How to share external links on Instagram Stories? SoftFed

Instagram finally brought the ability to share external links in their Instagram Stories to all users which was once restricted to select users with either verified accounts or prominent content creators with a good number of followers.

For those who are uninformed, Facebook subsidiary Instagram recently replaced the swipe-up link sharing feature with the new Link sticker which allows users to simply add the link sticker in their Instagram Stories and share with their followers.

The link sharing feature, according to the company, is really helpful in creating awareness, mental wellbeing, and promoting a business through Instagram Stories.

Wondering how to add links to your Instagram Stories? Here Some step-by-step guide:

  • An active Instagram account (New accounts won’t have the Link sharing feature)
  • Stable Internet (Obviously without Internet Instagram wouldn’t work)
  • Updated version of Instagram app

Steps to add an external link on Instagram Stories

  • Capture or upload content to your story
  • Select the sticker tool from the top navigation bar
  • Tap the “Link" sticker to add your desired link and tap “Done"
  • Place the sticker on your story — like other stickers — and tap on the sticker to see colour variations

Instagram is also working on ways to customize the sticker so it’s clear what someone will see when they tap the link.
